Assignment Overview

July 7-August 6, 2012 (4 weeks)

Be hands on. Travel to another country in a team of 5 or 6 and use your gifts to show God's love.You will serve with long-term missionaries and local churches as you join in God's ministry and participate in community transformation. Your assignment will depend on the country that you go to, but will include intercessory prayer, creative outreach and compassion initiatives. As you engage in people’s lives and partner with God, transformation will happen within you as well.

Lisbon, Portugal

In Portugal, the ACTION team will be serving in the Lisbon area, alongside local church planters and leaders Joe and Paula Arrais. Otto and Marjorie Ekk serve as long term MB Mission missionaries in Portugal. To learn more about how MB Mission is involved in Portugal, click here.

Kinshasa, DR Congo

The ACTION:Winnipeg team assignment will concentrate on development projects partnering with the MB Conference of Churches and a variety of ministries in Kinshasa. For more information on how MB Mission is involved in the Democratic Republic of Congo click here.

Piura, Peru

The Peru team will be working alongside of Otto and Lidia Funk in Piura. The purpose of this team will be to encourage and inspire the local church through college-aged, youth and children's ministry. The youth group in this community has been growing in the past couple of years, and this is a great opportunity to build relationships with the Peruvian people. Yaviza, Panama

The Panama team will be working alongside of Einer and Girlesa Zuluaga in a Yaviza. The purpose of this team will be to support local churches through a variety of ministries, including children's and youth programs. The team will be working alongisde the Wounaan and Embera indigenous people groups. To read more about how MB Mission is involved in Panama, click here.

Nagoya, Japan

The ACTION team in Japan will work alongside of missionaries Doris Goertz and Wendy Eros as they focus on connecting with a variety of different local churches throughout the country. Their primary emphasis will be on building relationships – with the host missionaries, the congregations, as well as the community surrounding each of these churches.  Through participating in teaching English and doing children’s ministry, this team will be able to join the church as they engage with their community. Sao Paulo, Brazil

The ACTION:Winnipeg team will work alongside local pastors and church leaders in Sao Paulo, while focusing on building relationships with the Brazilian MB conference and connecting with the MB churches. Part of the ministry will be spent in the city, working with the churches and helping with outreach in Sao Paulo's shanty towns. The team will also be helping to build up a camping and retreat center in the rainforest just outside of the city. For more information on how MB Mission is involved in Brazil, click here.
