Nagoya, Japan

The ACTION team in Japan will work alongside of missionaries Doris Goertz and Wendy Eros as they focus on connecting with a variety of different local churches throughout the country. Their primary emphasis will be on building relationships – with the host missionaries, the congregations, as well as the community surrounding each of these churches.  Through participating in teaching English and doing children’s ministry, this team will be able to join the church as they engage with their community.  "Things are moving in Japan. It's slow, but like the song God of This City, 'greater things are yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this city.' It is evident that God is alive in the Japanese church!"

The assignment in Japan will include a number of different activities, including:

Teaching English:  Many people in Japan want to learn English, and attend classes that are run out of the church. This opens the door for relationship, and an introduction to the gospel. The team will have the opportunity to help and support English teachers in this ministry.

Homestays: Homestays are a great way to build relationships. Many of the people who will host the team are members of the English classes, and are not always connected to the church. The team will have the opportunity to live out their faith in this context.
