Peru
With nearly 50 indigenous ethic groups, Peru is a nation of vibrant and rich cultural diversity. Although its history dates back thousands of years, it was only in the 20th century that Peru really entered the international eye. Peru is famous for being home to one of the 7 wonders of the world (Machu Picchu), its local cuisine, and beautiful landscapes. With 81% of the population being Catholic, and only 12.5% Evangelical Christian, MB missionaries and their national ministry partners in both the North and South are challenged daily to present a relationship with Jesus in a relevant and dynamic way through personal discipleship relationships.
MB Mission is excited to see the maturity of the MB conference in Peru as members from various churches are planting daughter churches and starting ministries of their own among the marginalized. MB Mission has 7 missionaries in that country coming along side in support, capacity building, encouragement and discipleship.
Please pray:
- For the Peruvian MB conference as it seeks pastors for a number of its churches
- That God would continue to provide energy, determination, and safety to MB missionaries Otto and Lidia Funk and a new team including Lowell and Melissa Ens, Stacy Kuhns, AND Heidi Schmidt, as they serve as resources to Peru's northern churches
- For the Lima MB Church as it grows in maturity and national leadership.
- For growth in projects in the Amazon community of Tampe as MB churches work to minister to marginalized people groups.
