BB
Country: Worldwide
Project #: C0612
Biography: BB is part of a church planting team in a restricted access country. The vision of his team is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ through planting churches and mobilizing long and short-term missions. Their first term will be spent learning the language and culture, planning mission activity, and developing team relationships and roles.
Background: BB grew up in a Christian home in Burnaby, British Columbia. He accepted Christ at a young age, and felt the first call to missions during a short term mission trip in Grade 12.
During this trip, his team went to a home for the dying and destitute. There were people with many different diseases in the home and the smell of death was in the air. BB knew that this was exactly where God wanted him right at this moment, so he asked one of the helpers what he could do to help the people in the home. The helper told him, “They don’t get a lot of human interaction, especially from foreigners. Could they just touch you?” BB was filled with God’s peace as he allowed the men to put their hands on him and touch him. During this time, BB fell in love with people in a deeper way and especially with the poor.
BB participated in MB Mission’s TREK program after high school and then attended Columbia Bible College, graduating with a degree in Intercultural Studies. He has participated in and led many short term mission trips, and feels blessed to have been a part of opening people’s eyes to what God is calling them into – a deeper relationship with Him.
After graduating from Columbia Bible College, BB didn’t feel that it was the time to go out as a long term missionary yet. He was planning on working with homeless people in downtown Vancouver, but God opened the door for him to work at Pacific Academy, the high school that he had attended. He only intended to work there for half a year, but God called him to stay there for two years.
At the end of his second year at Pacific Academy, BB was praying about whether to continue working in his ministry there. God showed him that it was time to take the next step toward long term mission so he decided to enter MB Mission’s Missionary Training and Equiping (MTE) because of the focus on community and going out in teams.
BB loves people and God has gifted him in the area of evangelism. BB’s hope for the country where his team will be serving is that each person will become a passionate, faithful follower of Jesus and that one day this country will send out missionaries to the surrounding nations. BB’s goal is to progress each day in his relationship with God, and through that God has given him the promise that people will come to know Him.
Prayer Requests:
- That God's perfect will would be done through the team's lives and that this would bring transformation
- A deeper longing for prayer and fruit coming from that
- Quick to listen, slow to speak but bold in sharing
- That God would build, protect and strengthen our team unity
