Biography: John and Evelyn Wiens are church planting in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, an industrial city of 900,000. A life of pastoral and church planting experience has equipped us for this chapter of our lives. We began New Hope Church in December 2009. We also are helping to equip pastors and leaders in 8 other Mennonite churches in the surrounding area.

Our long-term goals are to begin a Trade School and Dormitory for ‘graduated orphans’, as well as Recovery Homes for those struggling with alcoholism.

Prayer Requests

  • For New Hope Church to become a strong evangelistic, discipling and sending church.
  • For the Lord’s clear guidance for long- range plans to develop a Trade School and Dormitory for ‘graduated orphans.’
  • For strong, multiplying churches in the newly registered Association of Christian Mennonite Churches in Ukraine.
