God is transforming lives in mission and we would like to share these stories of transformation with you. Read about God's work in the stories from our missionaries and short term mission teams.
Deysi’s Story
As we see pain and brokenness in our communities, God invites us to act as his vessels in bringing about transformation. Deysi is a young woman from Peru who has responded to God’s call on her life and is moving towards helping and improving her community.
New Clothes for Graduation
“Do you have a dress?” John asked Katya. When she answered immediately, “No, Papa, I don’t,” John began to think of a way to help Katya and her friends celebrate an important graduation.
A Party for Gope
Over the past couple of years, God has opened my eyes to the poor, particularly those who beg every weekend at the night market in our neighbourhood. I have sought them out, befriended them, and offered them a cold drink, a meal, a prayer, whatever they would be open to receive. I have longed for these precious people to feel valued, accepted. The trouble is, they are so accustomed to being marginalized that they are often very difficult to get close to.
From Frustration to Repentance
Serving God is not always easy, especially when we’re engaged in a cross-cultural setting. Recently, I had one of the hardest days of my time teaching ESL in Japan. Nothing seemed to be working and everything seemed to end up in miscommunication and frustration.
The Story of Martires
Making disciples is a privilege. God invites us to partner with him in the transformation of lives.
Spare’s Miraculous Healing
Recently, a young woman named Spare got up during our Sunday worship service and told us about how God had healed her three years earlier. “My situation was hopeless,” she said, “so don’t forget, our God is a mighty God and he can do anything!”
A New Home for Ramya and Sethu
It can be heartbreaking to hear the stories that bring kids to the Bethania Home for Children in South India, but we put our hope in God who is a “father to the fatherless” (Psalm 68:5).
He Sees Each One
ACTION from Winnipeg to the Philippines
I am amazed at how much God loves us. It says in Psalm 139:1-3, “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.” God loves every single person on this earth and he has a unique plan for every one of us.
Faith Despite Opposition
I was impressed that Jasmine, only 16 years old, came to church every Sunday on her own. Jasmine’s father passed away and she lives with her mother and older sister. She was baptized in February. Although her Thai Buddhist family harassed her for her faith and refused to attend her baptism, Jasmine found support at Bethel MB Church’s youth group.
