Discipleship in the Darien Rainforest

Life in the Darien rainforest is hard. Contaminated river water often causes illness, and indiscriminate logging has left little behind for the aboriginal people groups that call the Darien ‘home’. The native Embera and Wounaan tribes that live in this area are accustomed to growing plantains, rice, and root crops, but these traditional crops are no longer as productive as they used to be. In addition to this, there are often fears about the presence of guerrillas in the rainforest.

Passion and Purpose

His passion for media has taken him around the world and back again. He’s hung with university students in Indonesia, experienced the isolation of a Northern Ontario reserve, and lived in Germany – twice. John Ervin is a writer, producer, and director, and when he was a senior in college, God sparked a flame in his heart that He stoked into in all-consuming fire. This fire is God’s call on John’s life.

A New Heart

The village of Chachoengsao in central Thailand is found at the end of a long dirt road surrounded by rice fields. The poor village is home to drug addicts, sex addicts, and alcoholics. Violence is heard in the streets regularly.

A Great Light

Imagine living in a land of darkness and not even knowing that you’re there. A doctor and his wife have been fighting for the life of their son for years, only recently coming to the understanding that his illness is not physical, but spiritual. They have woken up to the unseen reality of light and dark, and as they struggle to find the way, this Buddhist family is discovering that there is hope in God the victor.

His Ways Are Higher

When the short-term team packed up and left, the remaining long-term missionaries thought the outreach had been a failure. However, the Matthew Team in Guadalajara, Mexico soon learned that God can take any situation – even the ones that don’t go according to plan – and use it for His glory!

It was impossible for Onia to laugh and enjoy life with the anger and resentment that seemed to overwhelm her. She knew that there was bitterness and unforgiveness in her heart, but it was impossible for her to forgive the man who had hurt her so deeply. God wouldn’t ask that of her, would He?

A Monk Leaves the Monastery

A monk in Asia is on a life-changing spiritual journey. Incredibly enough, his journey is not leading toward Buddhahood. In fact, this monk is headed in the exact opposite direction. He doesn't know it yet, but God is drawing him to Himself. He's loosening the chains from his neck and urging this man to walk in freedom.
