A Place of Healing

The refreshing breeze that blew through the building reminded Laura, an ACTION participant to India, of God’s Spirit moving. The ACTION team was at the MB Medical Centre in Jadcherla, where people from surrounding villages come in search of medical treatment. The MB Medical Centre is a place of both physical and spiritual healing to those who come here looking for help.

The MB Medical Centre was set up in 1952 by missionary doctor Jake Friesen. For over 30 years, it has been run by the India MB Conference and by surgeon P.B. Arnold. It is well known by people in this part of rural India that the Medical Centre is a place where they will receive excellent medical care.

This summer an ACTION team that was serving in India had the opportunity to visit the MB Medical Centre. While they were there, the team was encouraged to see how God is using the Centre to meet the spiritual and physical needs of people in India. They also met with Lydia, the chaplain at the Medical Centre, and heard her testimony of what God has done in her life.

Lydia is a strong woman of faith. She has given up everything so that she can follow Jesus wherever He leads her. There were three times when Lydia was sick and close to death as she suffered with cancer. She struggled during this time, and cried out to God. God was very real to her even as she questioned Him through this difficult period, and He has healed her from her cancer.

Lydia now works at the MB Medical Centre as a chaplain. When people enter the Centre, Lydia shares the gospel with them in the Reception area before they see a doctor. She recognizes that the spiritual healing of the people of India is even more important than the healing of their physical ailments.

As the ACTION team spent time at the Medical Center and heard Lydia’s testimony, they could see that this was truly a place where God’s Spirit was bringing healing to people. As doctors cared for patients, God restored them to good physical health. And they had the opportunity to hear the truth about Jesus proclaimed during their time at the Medical Centre through the witness of Lydia.

Pray for the doctors, staff, and patients at the MB Medical Centre. Praise God that excellent medical care is being provided for people in rural India! Pray that many people will come to know Jesus as the Healer of all of their wounds.
