Can I Go?

“I have understood God’s message, and I have to serve God and bring this same message to others. Brother Einer, can I go with you to preach the Gospel?”

This was the question that 25-year old Fernando asked MB Mission worker Einer Zuluaga. Einer and Girlesa Zuluaga are church planters in Panama, and are involved discipling and raising up leaders.

Fernando had been actively participating in a study called “Firm Foundation” at his local church for a year. During that time, Fernando grew in his understanding of who Jesus was and his faith was strengthened. He learned about Jesus as the Creator of the world, and as the Lamb who came to take away our sins.

After this season of growth in his relationship with God, Fernando called Einer and told him that he wanted to speak to him about something that was important to him. Einer could sense that Fernando was very serious about this, so they set up a time where they could meet and discuss this important matter.

When the time came for Fernando and Einer to talk, Fernando looked straight into Einer’s eyes and told him what God had laid on his heart. “I cannot go on with my life like this,” Fernando explained. “Because of what Christ has done in me, I don’t want to just continue making and selling handcrafts so that I can make money to survive. I want my life to be used for something different; I want to serve God full time.”

When Fernando asked Einer if he could join him in preaching the Gospel, Einer was filled with great joy! He hugged Fernando excitedly and told him that it would be a privilege to have Fernando join him on his mission to spread the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Praise God that disciples who are passionate about sharing their faith in Christ are being raised up in Panama! Pray that Fernando will continue to grow in his love for God and his desire to follow Him no matter what the cost.
