Connecting over Christmas

The invitation had been extended to come to a Canadian Christmas! New Hope Church had only been hosting services for a few weeks, but an event had been planned for the day after Christmas.

There would be a candlelight service, carol singing, and the Christmas Story. Following the service, a jazz concert was planned to finish off the evening.

Church planters John & Evelyn Wiens invited their friends and acquaintances to attend the service. They even put out an English advertisement in a free community newspaper.

The Christmas service and jazz concert were a huge success! Usually only about 15 people attended the services at New Hope Church. But on this night, around 100 people squeezed into the room to hear about Jesus and listen to the talented musicians.

Kate was invited to this Christmas service by her friend. At first, Kate turned down the invitation because it was snowy and cold outside. But when her friend told her about the jazz concert that was happening after the service, Kate agreed to go with her.

This was Kate’s first connection with John & Evelyn and the TREK team that was serving with them in Ukraine. After this, she came to almost every church service. Within a month, Kate gave her life to Jesus!

Praise God for drawing Kate to Himself! Pray that Kate will continue to grow spiritually and long to know Jesus more. Pray that God will raise her up as a leader and witness of His extravagant love and grace.

Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!
