From Rejection to Acceptance

“I’ve found a God who will never throw you away!”

May had known nothing but rejection before she was introduced to Jesus by some missionaries in Thailand. May and her mother had been deserted by her father when she was five years old. When her mother remarried, May was sent away to live with relatives because her step-father didn’t want her around. Eventually May met a man and got married but her husband ran off with another woman when May was pregnant with their third child.

But May’s entire life was transformed by Jesus as He showed her unconditional love and acceptance. God brought May into the lives of MB Mission church planters Bob & Chris Davis and she became their housekeeper. When May first started coming to work, Bob & Chris told her, “For the first half an hour that you are at work, we want you to make yourself some coffee or tea and sit down at the table and read your Bible.”

May had already chosen to trust in Jesus but she didn’t fully understand who He was. As she took time to read God’s word, Bob & Chris saw Jesus do a powerful work of transformation in May’s life. There were some days that May just wept because all of the pain and rejection that she had experienced her entire life was coming out. She had been hardened for so long, but now God was breaking her down and changing her heart.

On other days, May was filled with joy and light and happiness. She walked around the village, announcing to everyone, “I’ve found a God who will never throw you away!” May now knew that she was accepted by Jesus and had discovered hope and life in Him.

As May grew in her faith and confidence in Christ, she became an evangelist in her community. Each day, she would ride her bike to Bob & Chris’ house, yelling, “I have a story! I have good news!” May would often tell them about a neighbor who was interesting in learning about Jesus or a lady down the street that she had given a Bible to.

God has used May’s life and testimony to draw many people to Himself. Praise God for the acceptance that we experience through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for Bob & Chris and May as they spread the message of God’s love and sacrifice in the village of Chachoengsao. Pray that God’s Kingdom will come in Thailand!

“So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins. He has showered His kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.” – Ephesians 1:6-8
