Mexican Missionaries

Fourteen Mexican missionaries knelt in the grass as they were commissioned to head into the unreached areas of Oaxaca, Mexico. This team of nine members and five trainees had just completed a five-day church planting seminar that was taught by Anne Thiessen, a missionary serving with MB Mission. As she laid hands on these missionaries, Anne felt that this was an answer to her prayers that God would raise up Mexican people as missionaries to reach out to other people in Mexico.

Since they began serving as missionaries in Mexico eighteen years ago, Robert & Anne Thiessen have longed and prayed to see Mexican churches and missionaries going to their own unreached people groups. God has been answering their prayers! Robert & Anne have been involved with two missionary training schools that are equipping Mexicans to go to the unreached of their own country, including Indian groups in southern Mexico.

These new missionaries are being trained in the field so that they can put the knowledge that they are learning into practice. Three of the trainees are now serving in Mixteco villages, where they are learning the language and culture. Pray that God will give them a deep love for the people of southern Mexico so that they will desire to go back and serve long term in this region.

Praise God for raising up Mexican believers with vision and passion to reach out to unreached people in Mexico. Pray that this missionary movement will spread across Mexico so that all can hear the good news!

"I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for Me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life.” – Mark 10:29-30
