On Time and Divine

As new missionaries are preparing to join church planting teams overseas, God’s hand is evident on the lives of these individuals. Ben and Melissa Froese, who recently completed MB Mission’s Missionary Training and Equiping (MTE), took a “scouting trip” to Berlin in April to meet the church family they will be joining.

They arrived at the Peace Arch border crossing in British Columbia on Good Friday to catch a flight from Seattle to Berlin. Expecting minimal traffic, the couple was surprised to discover that there was a 4 hour wait. Not letting this discourage them, they took action and made a plan. Abandoning their current driver, Ben and Melissa scribbled 2 signs reading, “NEED A RIDE – SeaTac” (Seattle-Tacoma Airport), walked toward the front of the line, and prayed that God would lead them to the right person. Minutes later a man jumped out of his vehicle and offered them a ride. David was heading north of Seattle for a business meeting and didn’t mind taking them to the airport. Forty minutes later they crossed the border.

Though a long wait at the border could have felt like a huge hindrance or an unwanted frustration, God’s perfect will was being worked out. It turns out that David is a practicing Buddhist. This led to a great conversation on the way down to the airport. David shared about his faith journey and Ben and Melissa in turn shared about theirs, telling him about Jesus. God turned a potentially stressful situation into a divine appointment and an opportunity to trust Him. When Ben and Melissa got to the airport, they even had time to spare before boarding!

Pray for David and ask God to continue to bring more divine appointments his way!

“The plans of the LORD stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.” – Psalm 33:11
