Peace with God
“Why don’t you come to church with us?”
Zana’s children often asked him why he wouldn’t join them in going to the church that met in missionaries Phil and Carol Bergen’s yard.
Zana is the son of a chief in Burkina Faso. He lives in the same village as MB Mission church planters Phil & Carol Bergen and Blaine & Michelle Warner.
When three of Zana’s sisters were baptized, he told Phil and Carol that he was moving towards the way of peace with God as explained in the Bible. It meant a lot to Zana that his sisters were getting baptized.
After this, Phil and Carol had expected that Zana would start coming to church. But he seemed distant in the months following his sisters’ baptism.
One night Zana showed up at Phil and Carol’s home and sat with them on their porch. He explained how he had been feeling down and worried. He didn’t have the emotional strength to come to church but he still wanted to. Zana suggested that he and his wife could study the Bible with Phil and Carol in French!
Praise God for this opportunity to learn from God’s word and share the good news with Zana and his wife. Pray that their hearts will be open and ready to accept the truth and commit themselves to following Christ. Pray for emotional strength for Zana and that he will experience God’s peace.
For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to Himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. – Colossians 1:19-20
