Reaching the Least

I was recently in discussions with other MB leaders regarding the purpose of our large family of churches. Why are we connected? For over 100 years we have been living on mission, sharing and living the gospel where people have not yet heard. We have planted churches in places like Burnaby, Bangalore, and Bogota.

For over 100 years we have been living on mission, sharing and living the gospel where people have not yet heard. We have planted churches in places like Burnaby, Bangalore, and Bogota. We have sent our best to express the values of the Kingdom and to plant communities of faith that bring transformation to lives, families and communities. Together we can pray about and respond to challenging mission locations and goals because our collective resources of people, prayer and finances are greater than any one church or community acting alone. The least, the last and the lost are the focus of our leader Jesus, and we live to follow Him. Mission is core to our MB DNA.

Our local, regional and global church planting work together defines us as a family of churches. Businessmen, teachers, doctors, pastors and farmers are getting on board and serving, giving and going both short term and long term to contribute to this vision. It has never been more essential to invest in this vision to reach our world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a family on a mission with eternity at stake. As we begin 2011, let us commit ourselves to make a contribution to this mission vision in whatever way we can. “What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on….those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed by them. For this world in its present form is passing away.” (1 Cor. 7:29-31)

You might notice a slight change in our name and branding in the coming months. After extensive consultation with our constituency we are updating our name to “MB Mission”. We pray that this clarity and simplicity contributes to focus our mission efforts, and rallies us around a vision that will lead us forward together, for God’s glory.
