Youth Revival

It was the night of the junior high sleepover at the Miraflores Church! Many of the youth that were coming were from poor neighborhoods and did not attend church.

MB Mission workers Otto and Lidia Funk are serving in the Miraflores Church in Peru. For many years, there had not been a junior high youth group at this church so they recently decided to try to start up a youth group again.

Youth between the ages of 11 and 16 were invited to come to the church for a sleepover. Many of the people in the congregation were worried and concerned because most of the youth that had been invited were poor and unchurched.

When the youth arrived at the church, they were divided into groups of five. There was a leader and helper in each group, with most of the leaders being from the College and Career group in the church. There were rules for discipline, but they found that there were no problems the whole night.

When an invitation was given for the junior high youth to accept Jesus and repeat a prayer, about 40 of the youth stood up and declared that they wanted to follow Jesus!

Now these youth come to the church every Saturday and the leaders are following up with them. Praise God! Pray that God will give these youth spiritual wisdom and insight so that they will grow in their knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray that they will be empowered to go out and share the gospel with their family, friends, and neighbors.

“Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.” – Colossians 1:9-12
