August 2010

The first week of July I spent with 6 of our global mission leaders who represent our church planting and mission capacity building work in strategic areas of the world. Their stories of faith, life transformation and courage in adversity deeply impacted me. Nzuzi represents our mission work in Congo and carries a strong passion for justice in mission. Johann is mobilizing the European church for mission in partnership with us, and has a passion to reach post-Christian Europe.

Johann is mobilizing the European church for mission in partnership with us, and has a passion to reach post-Christian Europe. PhoneKeo leads our fast growing mission work in SE Asia and continues to challenge us with his stories of God’s transforming power. Rob leads our work in Asia where the Church is multiplying leaders and churches often in challenging conditions. John leads our work in India where the greatest number of unreached people groups in the world is found (about 3000). Samir leads our work in N Afr*ca where more people are currently finding Christ through media and church planting than in many centuries of mission.

The following week these leaders reflected on our MB mission story from their various regions as part of our convention reporting at Celebration 2010 in Vancouver. Our full report includes the story of our mission pioneers, video stories of transformed lives and our vision for the next season in these various regions. We have designed a separate website to share this entire presentation with those of you who couldn’t attend the July convention. You can find this web site at www.mbmission.org/celebration2010 .

When the global diversity of the Church gathers to worship, pray and discern God’s will together, we experience a foretaste of the day when “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, (are) standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands….saying: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the lamb.” (Rev 7:9, 10) We are on this mission together until that day!

Ministry Highlights and Items for Prayer

  • This summer, ACTION teams have been serving in Austria, Central Asia, Thailand, DR Congo, Lithuania, Japan, Peru, Nepal, and Germany. Pray for the expansion of God’s Kingdom and for lasting fruit as a result of the ministry of these teams. www.mbmission.org/action
  • Pray for our global mission leaders, four of who are pictured here, as they serve in strategic areas of the world. Praise God for their willingness to follow by faith and to be used by Him to reach the least reached. Pray for vision, wisdom, protection, and open doors for the gospel. www.mbmission.org/celebration2010
  • MB Mission’s church plant in Durban, South Africa is focused on ministry to youth and refugees. Missionaries Baudouin & Marie-Brigette Nsulunka have identified potential leaders and are taking steps to disciple and train them to lead the church. Pray that these young men and women will grow in their faith and knowledge of God’s word, and that they will be filled with vision and passion for what God is calling them to. www.mbmission.org/southafrica
  • With the absence of a pastor at the Miraflores Church in Peru, church members have been stepping up to lead and serve. Families and young adults have been leading youth and prayer ministry and there is a new junior high group. At one event, around 40 junior high youth responded to an invitation to follow Jesus. Praise the Lord! Pray that they will continue to attend church and will be firmly rooted in Christ. www.mbmission.org/peru
