November 2011

Fight the Good Fight

I was recently invited to speak to all the young men at a bible college for an optional late night session. We talked about our inheritance in the Kingdom of God and how lust is robbing our generation of our potential and our Kingdom reward.

When we give place to lust and sexual sin we fall out of step with the Holy Spirit. It is hard to hear God.  We lack the faith to pray God-sized prayers for the nations, and to go on God-sized missions to the least reached. Our spiritual journey becomes all about us and our sin issues.

The stakes are big in this battle. There are churches that will not get planted, communities that won’t be reached and lives that won’t hear the gospel if the enemy of our souls can distract and entangle this generation of spiritual leaders. We are fighting not just for ourselves, but for what could be if we were to walk with God in the power of His Spirit!

“Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled , but rather healed.” (Heb.12:12)

One of the young leaders who has responded to our Oasis TV programs lives in Mecca. They are now reaching out to their friends with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This call to live and share the gospel could cost them their lives. Their prayer? To be able to hold a real bible, receive baptism and attend a church with other Believers in Jesus.

“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Rom. 13:12)  It’s time to wake up and fight the good fight!

Ministry Spotlight

In the first week of November we will be commissioning and sending out 21 TREK participants to two locations in Thailand, Barundi (& DR Congo) and Guadalajara, Mexico. We give thanks and praise to God for the work He is doing in their lives and how they have been challenged and stretched during their two months of training in Abbotsford.

Praise God for how He is encouraging those of our workers who are in language training. This is occurring in many countries and is such an essential part of ministry, in fact language training is ministry!  May God continue to bring encouragement just when they need it most – maybe it will be through you!

Items for Prayer

Two of our workers from team 58:12 in Turk*y have been invited to the earthquake region of V*n to assess buildings and help in the response. They invite us to pray that the restoration and rebuilding that takes place also touches the lives and spiritual climate of the area.

Bangkok is emptying as people flee the worst flooding the country has seen in half a century. As our workers there recently wrote, the disaster in Thailand is massive.  Hundreds have drowned, food shelves are empty, thousands are homeless. Pray for health as the conditions are very unsanitary, pray for

God’s rescuing hand and life-changing love and peace to reach those in need. Pray for God’s wisdom and strength to guide and empower His church as they serve in the midst of crisis.
