The Price of Faith

One of our Oasis follow-up leaders serving in Sud*n was praying with his leadership team for the Nub* Mountains region of Sud*n where they knew of no Christians. They sent a prayer scout team to discern the spiritual needs and opportunities. The leading M*ll*h of the region met them and told them the region belonged to him, they were not welcome and they should return home. The team replied that the region belonged to God. ‘No’, the M*ll*h replied, ‘ it belongs to me’.

When the team returned to Kharto*m, they received a letter threatening their safety if they ever returned to the Nub* Mountains. As they laid this hostile letter out before the Lord and prayed, they sensed the Spirit of God confirming that He was inviting them to this region. So they filled a truck with food, clothing and equipment for outdoor displays of the Jesus film. They travelled to 10 villages in the Nub* Mountains and saw many hundreds respond to the gospel. As they were leaving the region the M*ll*h sent a number of his warriors after them. The truck was shot up and 5 young men on the mission team lost their lives.

My friend who was reporting this event paused, and then said there were now 10 churches in the Nub* region they had visited and over 1000 baptized believers. His church recognized that we witness through our words, our lives, and sometimes our death.

November 13 is the international day of prayer for the persecuted church. Our church planting teams in least reached countries face persecution every day. Let’s stand with them in prayer and support. We’re sending you an MB Mission video to show in your congregation on Sunday, Nov 13 sharing the amazing story of our friend Hakan, a Turk*sh believer who has paid a huge price for his faith.

Ministry Spotlight

The 7th annual women’s conference took place in N. Africa in August this year. 154 women attended along with 30 children! Some women gave their lives to Jesus, others saw God miraculously answer their prayers, and all of them heard the truth spoken about their value as women. Pray that the fruits of this conference would last and that the changes in the lives of these women and their husbands would continue.

God is doing an amazing work in Chachoengsao, Thailand! Two ACTION teams joined with long term MB Mission workers this summer in running kids clubs, English camps, and participating in church services. 50 people chose to follow Jesus during this time! Pray for the people in this area as they and many other parts of Thailand are experiencing the worst flooding in 50 years.

Items for Prayer

Pray for MB Mission workers Otto & Lidia Funk as they work closely with the Peruvian MB Conference leadership and with churches in northern Peru to provide leadership training. Pray also for Lowell & Melissa Ens and their family as they prepare to leave for Peru in the near future. Pray that their support would be fully raised and that they will have a smooth transition to Peruvian culture.

TREK started up at the beginning of September with 23 young people participating in this 10-month program this fall. Pray that the love of Christ will reign in each person’s heart and that the teams will experience unity. Pray that God’s Spirit will fill them with humility and joy in serving and reaching out to the nations.
