Spreading the Gospel
When Drissa accepted Christ, the first thing that he wanted to do was share the gospel with his brother. But after meeting together once, his brother changed his mind and didn’t want to hear anymore.
This was a disappointment for Drissa, but he didn’t give up on his dream to tell his family about God’s love for them. Recently, without telling anyone about his plans, Drissa traveled to his home village by bicycle to share the good news with his family.
Missionaries Phil & Carol Bergen and Blaine & Michelle Warner have been working in Burkina Faso along with local believers to translate the Bible into the Nanerige language so that people in Burkina Faso can hear the gospel. Drissa arrived in his home village with some recordings of these translated Bible stories.
As they heard the stories of the Bible, the people in this village had a hunger to hear and learn more. Drissa told Phil, “They love God’s word there! They want more.”
It was exciting for Drissa to be a part of spreading the gospel to people that he loves and cares about. Praise God that these seeds are taking root in hearts and pray that they will bear much fruit and that many people will choose to follow Jesus.
Pray that God will raise up Drissa and his wife Tene as evangelists to their family, friends, and neighbors. Pray that they will be filled with boldness and courage to tell others about the love and grace that Jesus freely offers to all. Pray for the expansion of God’s Kingdom in Burkina Faso.
“Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in Him is declared right with God.” – Acts 13:38-39
