Mission Training & Equipping (MTE)

We are life long learners. There are many ways to grow and learn – in the classroom, through other people, by experience. We value transformational learning that integrates character change, relational growth, spiritual awareness, cross-cultural sensitivity, and ministry skill development. We want our workers to thrive in the locations they will be serving so we help to prepare them in a variety of ways.

Mission Training & Equipping (MTE) involves training modules, mentoring, weekly prayer and worship meetings, an STM experience, and ministry experience with a church plant. MB Mission leadership walks alongside, supports, and evaluates each missionary candidate during MTE.

1. Training Modules (September – December)

You will have the opportunity to be trained in a classroom setting alongside other missionary candidates. Some of the topics that will be covered are: Spiritual Authority/Conflict, Worldview, Evangelism, History of MB missions, World Religion, Ministry to M*lims, Cross-Cultural Assessment, Multi-Cultural Teams, Mentoring/Member Care, Boundaries, Finances, Suffering, Church Relations, Intercessory Prayer, Church Planting, Five-Fold Ministry, and Communication.

2. Mentoring

You will receive weekly mentoring from experienced missionaries and church leaders.

3. Weekly Prayer/Worship Meetings

We grow more when we are part of a community. MTE participants meet weekly for prayer and worship followed by a time for processing the things that you are learning and experiencing.

4. STM (Short-term Mission) Experience (January)

You will be involved in a cross-cultural STM following the four months of classroom training. The location and scope of the mission trip is determined by MB Mission staff according to the needs of each team and individual.

5. Ministry Experience (February – July)

If you have not had previous church planting experience, you will have the opportunity to connect with a church plant, with the goal of putting your training into practice. During these months, you will continue to raise support and debrief your experience with MB Mission staff.
