MTE

The Mission Training and Equiping is a time of training for missionary candidates before they are approved and sent out as MB Mission missionaries. MTE involves training modules, mentoring, weekly prayer/worship meetings, an STM experience, and ministry experience with a church plant. MB Mission leadership walks alongside, supports, and evaluates each missionary candidate during MTE.

1. Training Modules (September – December)

MTE participants are involved in Training Modules organized by MB Mission staff. Some of the topics that are covered are: Spiritual Authority/Conflict, Worldview, Evangelism, MB Mission History, World Religion, Ministry to M*lims, Cross-Cultural Assessment, Multi-Cultural Teams, Mentoring/Member Care, Boundaries, Finances, Suffering, Church Relations, Intercessory Prayer, Church Planting, Five-Fold Ministry, and Communication.

2. Mentoring

MTE participants receive weekly mentoring from experienced missionaries and church leaders. A detailed list of mentoring outcomes (Cross-Cultural Assessment) is given to the mentors to help direct the mentoring relationship.

3. Weekly Prayer/Worship Meetings

MTE participants meet weekly for prayer/worship followed by a time for processing the things that are being learned and experienced.

4. STM (Short-term Mission) Experience (January)

MTE participants are involved in a cross-cultural STM following the four months of classroom training. The location and scope of the mission trip is determined by MB Mission staff according to the needs of each team and individual.

5. Ministry Experience (February – July)

MTE participants who have not had church planting experience have the opportunity to connect with a church plant, with the goal of putting their training into practice. During these months, they continue to raise support and debrief their experience with MB Mission staff.

Further Prayer and Financial Support Raising (June – August)

Following evaluations, successful completion of MTE, and support raising (both prayer and financial), the missionary candidate is given final approval for overseas ministry.
