Studying the Word

Emilija* had been attending a Catholic Church, but one day she was invited to youth group by a friend from school. This youth group met at the church where the Lithuania TREK team was helping out.

Emilija felt God’s presence in a new way when she came to this church and she connected with TREK team member Jaymie Anderton. The team often talked about the history of the Bible, and Emilija was very curious. She asked Jaymie, “How do you know all of this?” Jaymie showed her the study Bible that she often referred to in order to understand the history and context of the Bible. Emilija was very interested in the Bible and told Jaymie, “I need to get a Lithuanian study Bible! This is great!”

Just before the TREK team left Lithuania, Jaymie felt God telling her to give her Bible to Emilija. She was really touched by this gift and at first she didn’t know what to say. With tears in her eyes, Emilija told Jaymie, “I’ve looked everywhere for a Lithuanian study Bible and they don’t make them.” Now Emilija has her own study Bible and is excited to learn from God’s word!

Since Jaymie has returned to Canada, Emilija has emailed and told her that she is reading her new Bible! She wrote, “Jaymie, I’m reading this Bible! And I’m supposed to be studying for school but I’m just reading and reading and reading and I can’t get enough!”

It was encouraging for Jaymie to hear about the growth that is happening in Emilija’s life as she digs deep into God’s word and discovers the truth. Pray that Emilija will be firmly rooted in Christ and that He will reveal His love to her as she studies His word.

“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” – Colossians 2:6-7
