Carlin Weinhauer Memorial

Our dear friend, pastor and mission leader, Carlin Weinhauer, entered the presence of the Lord on Saturday, April 19, 2014. His cancer was diagnosed six weeks ago and ‎the end came quickly. Our mission family has been deeply impacted by Carlin over the past ten years that he served with us. Carlin joined MB mission in his retirement after a long and very fruitful ministry at Willingdon Church in Burnaby, BC. He brought his love for prayer, the Word and missions to our lead team. He was a mentor to me personally and to our mobilization team as he launched Celebrate Mission Nights across North America, numerous vision trips and, ‎more recently, our Thailand development building projects. We will miss his God-given passion for life and for all things eternal. Carlin was a leader who finished well!

I am privileged to serve the MB churches of the Prairies Provinces. Connecting churches with the call to join God in mission continues to be a rewarding and challenging ministry. Together with our team of staff and volunteers we are able to administer many of the programs and processes that aid our MB churches in expressing their international mission of 'holistic church planting that transforms communities among the least reached.'

“Come and follow me” and “Go” have been words that Joanna has heard quite clearly from Jesus over the course of her life. The invitational calling began as she responded at a debrief session of SOAR Midwest 2001 (based in south Texas, where she grew up) to follow God wherever and whenever: as long He called, she would go.

Video message from John

JESUS IS IN THE BUSINESS OF TRANSFORMING LIVES!  We are thrilled to be able to witness His transformational power in our lives, in the lives of people around us, and around the globe.

I’m a Mission Mobilizer with MB Mission. I serve the MB family in BC (113 churches) by preaching, training short and long-term missionaries, helping churches and individuals discern next steps in global mission, and helping run a couple of short-term discipleship-focused mission programs (SOAR Vancouver, TREK, Disciple Making International). A big part of my call is to encourage people to be closely connected to the Lord, because it is out of that relationship that mission flows.

God is at work amongst the nations! Joining our Heavenly Father in His work is privilege. For our family that means we want to live out our faith in the community, sharing God’s love in the ordinary daily encounters – and see how He is able to transform both our lives and those around us!

"Holistic church planting that transforms communities". This was the vision providing direction and inspiration for our work in São Paulo, Brazil over the last eighteen years. Our focus was to lead people to Jesus and form communities of followers who wouldexperience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit on all levels. Personal, spiritual, emotional, physical, relational, familial, social, and financial. The outreach of the newly formed churches included deliverance and inner healing ministries, literacy programs, counseling for victims of substance abuse, homes for street children, marital counseling, financial counseling, and professional training. I have come to understand that ‘holistic church planting’ emanates from a life of holiness. The words ‘holistic’, ‘holy’, ‘whole’, and ‘health’ actually share the same origin. Personal and team health are by-products of an intimate relationship with the Triune God. If missionaries are to be used for the transformation of societies around the world, their walk with Jesus must empower them to cultivate healthy relationships within their teams and church communities. MB Mission’s role is to provide the needed training and resources. I will seek to promote training which integrates ministry experience with regular times of reflection on spirituality, team dynamics, the acculturation process, and ministry practice. It will be done under the guidance of experienced missionaries as ‘life on life’ training. I pray this mentored involvement will encourage present and new missionaries to cultivate a spirituality which embraces all of life.

I am captured by the words of Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Can you imagine it? Not just individuals, but entire nations transformed by the message of the gospel! Try to picture entire nations who acknowledge personally and corporately that Jehovah God is Lord! Wow…what would that look like?
