Eglise Mennonite de Grand Lac (EMGL) in Bukavu is made up of one central church and seven smaller churches in outlying communities. All of them have been severely affected by ongoing violence and most of the pastors have little education. Church leaders are being discipled and trained in mission, peace and reconciliation, Anabaptist tradition, and pastoral leadership. Church members are empowered to reach out with social projects and there are plans to develop a ministry center in Bukavu to facilitate outreach in this region.
