C0625 House of Hope
Country: Thailand
Project #: C0625
Needed: $20,600 (USD)
People in the city of Chachoengsao are being impacted physically, emotionally, and spiritually as they come to the House of Hope. They host regular English, dance, baking, and Bible classes. They are establishing their presence in the city by hosting dance competitions, leadership training events, and seminars for families.
The House of Hope provides a friendly environment for kids and adults to learn and improve their English language skills. Some individuals are tutored by appointment but usually non-traditional methods are used, such as baking classes and activities with teens from a local high school. There is a Casual Conversational Course for Thai teachers where they are encouraged and given the opportunity to learn, practice and improve their English. The goal is to build both confidence and skills and to share ideas to better equip the teachers in their individual classrooms.
The House of Hope also teaches marketing skills to women in the community through entrepreneurial projects that help them increase their income. One project teaches them how to make cards with photographs that showcase Thailand's natural beauty.
One woman, along with her two daughters, was helped to escape from an abusive home situation and provided with safe shelter, a loving environment and employment opportunities at the House of Hope. They helped her open a coffee-tea-fresh fruit drink stand in front of the House.
The goal in all of these activities is to connect with people in the community and introduce them to Jesus. The House of Hope is a safe place where people are experiencing the love of God in real and tangible ways.
