Ministry Assignment

This is the heartbeat of SOAR. The Ministry Assignments are designed for each team to work alongside an already established ministry or church. Prior to SOAR, we connect each team leader with the church/ministry leader, to discuss the ministry opportunity in greater detail.

Assignment Structure

Each day consists of three parts: Ministry Preparation, Ministry Assignment, and Celebration & Rest.

Ministry Preparation (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Each morning is spent preparing for your Assignment through worship & devotion, solo-time, and team time. On Sunday, each team attends church with the Ministry Host providing an opportunity to participate in the church service (e.g. sharing a testimony).

Ministry Assignment (1:00 - 8:00 PM): After lunch, each team travels to the Ministry Assignment and participates in a variety of ministry activities. Check out our Sample Ministry Assignments to learn more about these activities. A bag dinner is provided.

Celebration & Rest (8:00 - 11:00 PM): At the end of each day, there is a time of refreshment at the main host site. Each team will have the option of attending our evening worship & prayer sessions or having team time together.

Sample Ministry Assignments

Assignment possibilities are quite varied. Helping with renovation projects, visit refugees, visit families, go on prayer walks, hand out water bottles in parks (Public Acts of Christ), host a children’s carnival, cleaning projects, plant a community garden, host a basketball tournament, assist with a VBS program, creative evangelism. Whatever the local church thinks will be a strategic use of a team, we will help them with. Our hope in this ministry assignment is to make Jesus known and to help the local church expand it’s influence in it’s community.
