SOAR Vancouver

Dates: August 03-12 2012
Program Cost: $495 CAD/USD plus additional costs

What do you think of when you think of Vancouver? Olympics? Vancouver Canucks? Mountains? Ocean? World Class City? Lots of wealth? Lots of poverty? People from all over the world? If you think of any of these things, you're right. And in the midst of it all, GOD IS AT WORK. People are experiencing God’s love and committing to live for Him. Many are hearing God’s call to be a missional presence in the city. Churches are being planted. Lives are being transformed.

We’d like to invite you to participate in some of what God is doing in this city. MB Mission and Church Planting BC are excited to partner together to provide this opportunity for you to get a glimpse of God at work in Vancouver.

Bring a team from your church, or sign up as an individual participant. Your team will work with new church plants and established churches within Vancouver. Please come and help us make Jesus known in this city.

Program Overview

SOAR Vancouver is a 10-day discipleship training and mission program where teams from across North America are invited to come together to train, serve, eat, dorm, and debrief. Each team will be paired up with an MB church in Vancouver to serve alongside them during the Assignment phase.

SOAR Vancouver is a multi-generational opportunity. While the majority of participants are youth and young adult age, we welcome teams of all ages, and families.

SOAR Vancouver starts with 3 days of intentional discipleship training, with the intention of taking your relationship with Jesus to the next level, so that you are more equipped to serve.  Topics like "Personal Holiness", "How to Share Your Faith", and "Passionately Following Jesus" will be looked at in an environment with lots of worship, prayer, Bible Study and community.

Then there is the Assignment phase.  For 6 days, your team will serve with a MB church (either a new church plant or a well-established church) in Vancouver, helping them engage thier surrounding community in creative ways.

The final 24 hours will be an intentional debrief time, when you are given an opportunity to process your experience, close off team relationships in a healthy way, and ask the Lord how He wants you to apply what you have learned to the next season of life.

Our hope is that this will not be a "stand-alone" experience that is simply a good memory once you are done.  Instead, we are praying that God will transform you in some way that affects the trajectory of your life.
