Fresno is an urban center with a struggling economy, gang activity, and people carrying huge burdens. Watch our video to see our team came together to serve among some of our least-reached neighborhoods in central California. One participant shared that, “The highlight of my UM Fresno experience was serving with people from other churches. It was great to build such strong relationships with people through service. I also loved seeing people with servant hearts.” Our teams served and instilled hope at 11 different ministry sites around the city – from feeding hungry people to ministering to disabled adults to sports outreaches on public school campuses.
Our speaker was Vanna In from Hope Now For Youth, a ministry to help gang members find freedom in Christ in Fresno. His powerful talks about personally coming out of gang life to Christ was inspiring. Vanna went from gang life to becoming a pastor has been featured on The Discovery Channel’s “Gangland” series. A major motion picture is soon to be released in theaters sometime in 2011 about this amazing ministry called “Finding Hope Now.”
